"Conversations between the closer kin.”

Research output: Contribution to journalReview article

Abstract

This "review" is part of a special issue dedicated to reviews of the intellectual production by Stuart Hall, premier scholar of communication and cultural studies. This review takes up Uncut Funk: A Contemplative Dialogue, a conversation between Stuart Hall and bell hooks, arguably the biggest African American Feminist of the last century. This dialogue between two figures who shaped generations of thinkers is wide ranging, taking up Black pain, nihilism, love, death, the unparalleled fatigue of Black intellectuals, and healing and functions as a provocation for a return to the work of both of these intellectual juggernauts.
