Abstract

Book Title: The Dark Side: Critical Cases on the Downside of Business This is a business ethics case study that analyzes a Norfolk Southern train accident that released 90 tons of chlorine gas into the air. The toxic clouds traveled to nearby Avondale Mills plants where several people died and the small mill town was decimated. The textile company subsequently went out of business. The instructor manual that accompanies the case encourages students to take a critical look at the systemic factors that allow a spill to happen.
