Abstract

Innovation and R&D: Innovation, the continual evolution towards both the new and the improved, is a strategic imperative for any organization. For not innovating implies staying with the status quo, and in the global business environment of today no company, industry or market is safe from the dangers of being run over by the competition. To provide guidance to organizations about how to achieve effective and efficient innovation it is necessary to understand innovation as a purpose, a process, as well as an outcome. This brief discussion attempts to point towards all the components that should be considering in defining, managing and evaluating an organization’s strategic innovation efforts.
