Abstract
This book teaches how to create a short animated film while learning the mathematics of computer graphics. Films created using the lessons in the book will not be as sophisticated as those made by animation studios, but my students find that making their own movies adds satisfaction and enjoyment to their study, while deepening their understanding of the mathematics through personal experience. The movie project motivates and exemplifies an interesting set of mathematical concepts and techniques from computer graphics, including affine transformations, algebra and geometry in three dimensions, polynomial curves and surfaces, algorithms for lighting and subdivision, and more.
