Making Service-Learning Work for Undergraduate Business Law Education: Issues and Answers

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

Since the rise of service-learning in the late 1980s as a pedagogical tool in undergraduate education, the academy has experienced positive developments both in student achievement and community engagement. Yet in two recent surveys, one of ALSB members, business law educators on average seem not to have embraced service-learning as a tool in their teaching. This paper provides insight into the usefulness of academic service-learning, addresses issues raised in the ALSB member survey, and provides specific examples and guidance for implementing service-learning in business law courses.
