The Flip Side

While published in a traditional academic journal, my submission is not a traditional journal article, but rather my documentary film The Flip Side, which went on the festival circuit several years ago, plus a Director’s Statement. The journal Circus: Arts, Life, and Sciences, the preeminent journal about circus studies, published by University of Michigan, accepts both traditional articles as well as media such as my film. The Director’s Statement tells the story of the film’s creation and contextualizes it within the history of Chinese and Western cultural exchange around circus.
