Abstract

In this paper, we argue that the Information Systems body of knowledge included in the most recent IS model curricula (IS'97 and IS2002) needs a significant revision. We suggest that the results of the Computing Ontology Project could be highly beneficial as a foundation for this work. In addition, we discuss the reasons why both the use of the broad computing ontology and the development of a separate information systems ontology for areas not covered in the Computing ontology are potentially highly useful ways to understand and specify the identify of our discipline better.
